I create honey glazed mandala Kalacs – 6th of June, Wednesday (interview)

Though Rita has been creating honey glazed kalacs for the past 10 years, she took this as a profession only for the past one year. These honey glazed kalacs acts not only as a trendy decorative items, but also serves as a tasty bites too!

Her main motivation is her adoration for creating Mandala! Most of her creations have been put through the quality control under the aegis of Industrial crafts Jury authorities. The Decorations that she endeavours to create on her products makes it a very unique creation. She is of the opinion that the honey glazed mandala Kalacs is very similar to the dough ( gyurma ) that the children play with and many shapes, sizes and decorations could be created with them. She endeavours to  create not only 2D forms, but also creates life like 3D forms like a small hut, a bethlehem, an open book, and various kind of boxes till the imagination runs dry.She strives hard to create new things every time. She does derive inspiration from the slovakian side fo her ancestry and also try and convert many of her ideas and fantasies into a memorable creation.

She completed her training on creating honey glazed kalacs in the year 2010 under the umbrella of OKJ course. This training programme was more useful  to fine tune her already exisitng talents of creating honey glazed kalacs which she had been making for many years. The business formalities and initiatives of this business was initially created by the 22nd district self Government and she was given the various Know-how by the authorities which she was not aware of.She had also had to appoint an accountant who helped with her own ideas and view points for a start up and helps immensly even till date to enable her to keep in touch with ever changing rules and regulations. During the inital stages , she was under constant shock owing to various expenses that she has to endure to maintain her own business.Though her first business financial year was not totally profitable , she hopes to close the current financial year profitably.

Off late she is actively involved in creating her own workshop adhering strictly to the  norms , rules and regulations set by the OÉTI and also sells her wares at GODZSU Udvar, in the Meska website , as well as by participating in various bazaar. She also has her own webpage as well as her facebook page to further promote her work of  art. She has found a wonderful partner in her daughter who also helps in the marketing owing to her being multilinguistic and she is also blessed with her own handicraft talent.

The biggest obstacle Rita faced in her business was the packaging box for the honey glazed kalacs . To get a whole sale price for the packagin box , she had to order whole sale which she could neither afford nor she had a proper warehouse to store. Hence she found her own unique design of boxing her work of art.
Rita’s main profession is Kindergartner dealing with children and creating honey glazed kalacs is only her alternate profession.Needless to mention , she also teaches her children as well as the parents of the children to make  honey glazed kalacs and there by sharing her wealth of knowledge.
