Illustration artist for fairy tale books: Agocs Irisz - 4th June, Monday (report)

Today's meeting of  handicrafts artist  from various parts of Europe not only served in gaining rich experience , but also in understanding the varied thoughts of the participants with regards to starting a new business. This being an international meeting, we have no doubt that thes meaningful discussions would go a long way to transform the economical , social and communal infrastructure of the partcipants' country.

For example here is our Ms. Agocs Irisz who works as an illustration artist for fairy tale books whose main buyers are children and more surprisingly they are not the only market segment the she serves. Her works are used as gifts during marriage ceremonies, birthday parties etc. They have also been used in the post cards as well as we can meet with her works  in art galleries too!

Her career as an enterpreneur did not have  that usual typical start! She started blogging about her work mainly in her friends' circle as a source of entertainment, but achieved an increasing popularity and that subsequently resulted in increased order base. Her success is not only from the domestic market, but 70% of her blogs readership and orders come from International community.

It is a different matter altogether for an handicraft artist to be an entrepreneur which works differently for let us say someone involved in a production or in a service industry. Artists feel that they are not really blessed with the real business acumen to run an organisation. Hence it is imperative for them to start learning the nuances of business as they have to deal with purchase, marketing, communication and money matters all by themselves! This puts considerable stress on them as even dealing with an art by itself is a major creative drain.

During our converstaion with Irisz, we were given to understand the burden that she feels with the day to day aspect of running a business like for instance, invoicing etc. Should she have three wishes, she would wish for a more easier way to run a business.

Still we feel that she is fortunate to be in a position where she does not have doubts about her work's competetiveness in the market. She need not do the market research  for her product”s acceptability which can easily create such a stress in one”s life.

Her products doesnot need special marketing and PR as her work speaks for itself which by itself is very rare in business promotion that goes to prove that there is still not only demand, but there is a need exisiting for handicraft works which brings uniqueness to everyone's life.

Irisz can consider herself as a very successful entrepreneur who gets to do day after day what she loves the most and does not consider the work as a burden which is such a rare phenomenon in the stress filled business life these days.

She also told us that she is happy to have found the right balance between her professional and her personal life which has made her personal life more harmonious which could be considered aa an enviable proposition.
